Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCRoyal Dutch Shell Plc began the process of restarting its 325,700 barrel per day Deer Park refinery on Monday night.

Shell was restarting the Deer Park refinery’s 270,000 bpd DU-2 crude distillation unit, which is the larger of the two CDUs at the Deer Park refinery. Shell shut down the refinery on August 27 due to heavy rains from Tropical Storm Harvey.

According to sources, Shell began preparing for restart on September 4.

CDUs do the initial refining of crude oil that comes into a refinery and supply hydrocarbon feedstock to other production units.

Deer Park is a 50-50 joint venture with Shell and Petroleos Mexicanos or Pemex, Mexico’s national oil company.
