Products and services distributor MRC Global is opening a new regional distribution center and operational hub in La Porte. MRC is relocating operations at Galena Park, Darien Street in Houston, and two other satellite locations to the new center, located at the Port Crossing Commerce Center. 
The consolidation is an effort to centralize operations closer to MRC Global’s chemical customers and improve access to rail and container terminals.
The facility will span hundreds of thousands of square feet of warehouse space and pipe yard to support chemical clients in the area. Products include traditional gas utility, carbon pipe, fitting, oilfield supply and stainless and high alloy lines. The center is expected to be operating by the end of 2017.
The center will employ 150 employees and become MRC Global’s largest distribution center and one of the largest warehouses for a single distribution company in the Houston area.
