Shane Pellerin Law Firm Probate LawyerA third person has died from the suspected drunken driver crash in Austin during this year’s South by Southwest festival. Sandy Thuy Le, 26, died from injuries she sustained from being run over while outside The Mohawk music club early Thursday morning.

Austin police say the driver of the vehicle, Rashad Owens, was fleeing police when he accelerated his car into the crowd outside the music club in Austin’s Red River Entertainment District. Three people have now died, and 20 others were injured.

The two victims who died Thursday were Steven Craenmehr, a 35-year-old Dutchman who was on a bicycle, and 27-year-old Jamie West of Austin, who was on a moped at the time of the car accident.

Owens, 21, has been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. He’s accused of drunken driving as well as intentionally driving into the crowd of festivalgoers. Owens has been jailed on a $3 million bond.
