Round Rock, Texas: A few years ago a Texas man was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of his ninth DWI. A Texas judge decided that rather than chance him remaining in public and seriously injuring someone, it was safer and better to remove him from society.

Bobby Stovall, 54, was driving in Round Rock, Texas, in July when he wove through several lanes of traffic to eventually hit another vehicle. It was later discovered that Stovall had a blood alcohol concentration of .32, which is four times the legal limit in Texas.

When the judge discovered that the defendant had eight other DWI convictions, he decided that a life sentence was the best course of action.

In addition to having the nine DWI convictions, Stovall also had a list of other crimes on his rap sheet. Some argue that a life sentence for a DWI conviction is far too harsh, even if it is his ninth conviction. Some are suggesting that alcohol treatment would have been the better option.
