The woman who police say caused a wreck that killed a deputy last month in Harris County is facing intoxication manslaughter charges.
Kelly Ivey was originally charged with possession of a controlled substance after the wreck, which killed Harris County Deputy Jesse Valdez III. Valdez’ car spun around and went into the ditch, where he was trapped. Valdez was airlifted to the hospital, where he died.
Ivey has previously served time for theft and drug charges.
