The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality monitored air and water quality levels and said it didn’t find any areas of concern after a chemical fire burned in the Channelview area for hours Wednesday.
The TCEQ monitored quality levels overnight and said that the staff did not detect any areas of concern.
K-Solv controls the facility where the massive fire took place. Company leaders were given access to the site, and as of Thursday morning they were still trying to discover what caused the fire and what was actually on fire.
Officials say that massive flames shot out from the K-Solv warehouse, which is located on Lakeside Drive in Channelview. The smoke was visible on doppler radar at the height of the fire.
Fire officials put the fire out after several hours.
