Jacobs Field Services North American Inc. filed a petition for the U. S. Supreme Court to review an OSHA case against the chemical plant contractor.Shane Pellerin Law Firm Probate Lawyer

The Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission found that Jacobs committed two serious violations related to a March 2013 accident at a chemical plant in La Porte that burned a Jacobs technician. The commission fined the company $14,000 over the allegations.

The commission upheld an administrative law judge’s ruling that Jacobs failed to establish and implement certain written procedures and failed to train the injured employee in an overview of hazards related to his task.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit upheld the order by the review commission. The new petition asks the high court to consider questions raised by the ruling.

OSHA related cases are rarely heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
