A truck fire in the La Porte area caused a temporary shelter-in-place to be issued.
The chemical emergency occurred near the intersection of 16th Street and A Street.
Officials worked quickly to control the truck fire and are determining what hazardous materials burned in the fire.
Those north of Spencer Highway in the area and east of Underwood Road were advised to remain inside. Residents were also advised to keep doors and windows closed during the emergency and to turn off air conditioners.
