Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCLyondellBasell has announced the location for its new $700 million polyethylene plant at its manufacturing complex in La Porte, Texas, on the south shore of the Houston Ship Channel. Construction on the new plant is scheduled to begin in early 2017, and it should wrap up in 2019.

The new project will create as many as 1,000 construction jobs as well as 75 permanent jobs.

This new plant is part of LyondellBasell’s $4 billion expansion through 2020 in the Texas and Gulf Coast regions.

The new La Porte plant will produce 1.1 billion pounds of polyethylene each year, which is the most common type of plastic and is used mostly for packaging.
