A La Porte PD officer who has been on the job for more than three years is under investigation for the misuse of official information or bribery. The Texas Rangers are investigating him related to a capital murder case in Houston from March of this year.
Documents from the search warrant revealed what authorities are calling text messages between the officer and one of the suspects in the capital murder case around when the victims were found dead.
The latest warrant shows supposed text message between one of the suspects, Polie Phan, and 25-year-old La Porte PD officer Ivan Morales. The suspect asked Morales to check if license plates were stolen, and then he sent $100 to the officer.
Morales has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
