Early this morning a Clear Lake home caught fire as a result of an explosion in the home’s driveway. Luckily the family was able to escape the fire and explosion damage as a result of quick thinking.
A car in front of the home on Rill at Beachcomber exploded, which caught the SUV next to it on fire. At that point the flames spread to the home as a result of the explosion.
A family of five was sleeping in the home at the time of the explosion and fire, and one of the teenagers heard the explosion and attempted to put the fire out with a garden hose. He then called for help and was able to alert his family of the fire.
The family is unsure how or why the car in the driveway caught fire, but were thankful their son heard it and was able to quick thinking.
No injuries were reported and investigators are looking into potential arson.
