The Houston area saw several crashes early Tuesday morning due to the icy road conditions. Patches of ice have been reported along S. Gessner near 290, and a major crash was reported at nearby Hempstead Highway around 6:30 a.m. Later two SUVs collided on W. Orem after a driver hit an icy patch of road. Minor wrecks occurred along the North Freeway frontage road, and officials closed the freeway’s ramps as well as the north and southbound frontage roads in the area.
No serious injuries were reported in any of this morning’s accidents caused by cold temperatures. Temperatures in Houston were as low as the 10s early Tuesday morning, and icy road conditions were caused by water draining onto the roadways.
