Following the killing of two New York City police officers this weekend, the Houston Police Department is investigating a threat allegedly made by a Houston-area man about killing more cops.
The threat was posted on a Facebook page, saying the killings in New York were just the beginning. Neighbors of the man who allegedly posted the threat reported him, but he could not be reached for comment.
The threat, which HPD says it’s taking very seriously and will continue to investigate, has started discussion within the police department’s union. The union requested that the department institute a policy that two officers respond to every call and always call for backup when investigating. As of yet, no policies have been changed because of the threat.
