Northbound lanes of the East Loop were blocked last night after a car carrier with new luxury cars caught fire.
The incident happened under the overpass for the East Freeway at roughly 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver of the car carrier said he noticed sparks coming from his 18-wheeler. When he pulled over to try to put out the fire, the situation worsened.
The Houston Fire Department responded and was able to put out the fire, but not in time to save the luxury vehicles on the car carrier. Three Audis were destroyed in the fire and several others may have damage.
