The refinery said a leaky valve sprung Wednesday November 30 in its catalytic reforming unit 3, causing emissions that continued into Thursday, according to a statement made to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The length of time needed to repair the leak is not known.

The Deer Park refinery is a 50-50 joint venture between Shell and Mexico’s national oil company Petroleos Mexicanos and has a crude-oil capacity of about 340,000 barrels a day.
