While police were conducting a search related to child pornography Tuesday morning at a home in Deer Park, a man was shot by an officer after he showed his firearm and then shot himself.
Officers went to the 2500 block of Pickerton Drive to execute a warrant on the man suspected of promoting child pornography.
The homeowner opened the door when officers arrived, and the suspect was still asleep.
When Deer Park police ordered the suspect to come outside, he instead showed a firearm.
The suspect was shot once by police and then turned his gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
