Children’s Protective Services has taken custody of two boys, ages 3 years and 14 months, who were left at a fire station in southwest Houston Monday evening.

A hearing will take place to determine if relatives will be allowed to take the two boys who were abandoned at the fire station.

The mother of the two boys left them at the fire station off Wilcrest Drive near Bissonet.

When officials questioned the woman, she gave several different stories. At that point, she and her children were taken to CPS.

In the state of Texas, parents are allowed to turn over custody of their children legally within 60 days after their birth if they drop them off at certain designated locations, such as police stations and fire departments. Parents would not be charged with abandonment in these instances under the state’s Baby Moses law.

The mother did not meet the requirements of the Baby Moses law, but as of Monday evening, no charges had been filed.
