One family from New Caney is starting over Tuesday morning after virtually all their belongings were destroyed in a house fire early in the morning.
Veronica Allen woke up around 2 a.m. after a loud popping noise came from the front porch area of the home. Dave, her husband, went to investigate and found a large fire taking over the front of the house.
The couple rescued their son and two dogs before the fire became too intense. The family cat and a litter of puppies are believed to have been lost in the fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene to try to salvage the home, but were evacuated after it began to collapse. The home was recently given to the family by Veronica’s father and was not yet insured. The family has lost everything.
