The southbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway were shut down Tuesday morning after a wrong-way driver caused a crash.
According to investigators, a man was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of US 59. Around 4 a.m., he slammed into another car head on.
Both drivers were taken to Ben Taub hospital, where the man who caused the crash is expected to be OK, while the driver of the other car has some serious injuries.
Authorities diverted traffic to 610 and reopened the freeway around 5:30 a.m.
