A Deer Park, Texas, officer is accused of assaulting a man who had been arrested for public intoxication on May 24.
Charles Alston has been charged with misdemeanor assault after he allegedly punched Tobias Martinez, who had been arrested for public intoxication. Paramedics noted redness and swelling on Martinez’s face but noted he did not need to be hospitalized.
If convicted, Alston may face up to a year in jail as well as a $4,000 fine. He has been a Deer Park police officer since June 2014.
