A woman previously dated the man who is accused of shooting her as well as her husband and their six children. Before she was shot, she texted her mother to let her know that she was being held at gunpoint. Authorities had been alerted to problems in the home by the victim, Valerie Jackson’s, mother.

David Conley has been charged with capital murder in the case. Eight were killed, all shot in the head. Included in those killed were parents Valerie and Dewayne Jackson, their five children and another child who’s believed to be Conley’s son.

When Jackson’s mother contacted 911, they went to the home and attempted to establish contact with residents. They saw a body of a child and then forced entry into the home. At that time authorities were met with gunfire.

In 2000, Conley had been sentenced to five years in prison for retaliating against his then-girlfriend. It’s not certain if that woman was Valerie Jackson.
