Two people are dead after a driver hit them while trying to escape from Harris County sheriff’s deputies.
According to deputies, the incident happened around 9 p.m. on Veterans Memorial near Rainy River.
An officer saw a Mercedes going over the speed limit and tried to stop the driver. The driver then led the deputy on a chase.
The driver went southbound in the northbound lanes on Veterans Memorial. The suspect then hit a cyclist, who later died at the hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes also crashed into a Buick, and the driver of the Buick also later died in the hospital.
The suspect was detained and then transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
