Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCThe cities of Deer Park and Pasadena are reaching out to residents to urge more to participate in the census. In late May, Pasadena ranked below the national and state average with 52.2% participation. Deer Park had 65.2% participation at the time.

The response rate nationwide is 60.3%, and Texas comes in behind the national average with 54.9% participation.

City officials warn that lack of responses could hurt funding for important programs.

An official from the U.S. Census Bureau says participation is down due to the pandemic.
