Many cab drivers worry about their safety while driving strangers around in Houston and big cities across the globe. But for Ishmael Siryon, returning home turned out to be more dangerous.
Siryon was the victim of what police believe to be an attempted robbery and shooting when he returned to his Royal Park apartment Sunday night. A neighbor reported overhearing the confrontation followed by gunshots at around 11:30 p.m. Siryon was found by his roommate, unconscious and with a gunshot wound in his chest. He died in the emergency room.
Yellow Cab, the company Siryon drove for, released a statement confirming Siryon’s status as a driver and refusing to give any more information because of the “ongoing investigation.”
