Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCEarlier in August Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner challenged Houstonians to work together to drop the COVID-19 23% positivity rate to under 5%.

With a week left in August, Houston’s rate is down to 9.2%. This is the lowest positivity rate in the city since May.

Mayor Turner says that this drop in positivity rate shows that mask and distancing is working.

But even with all of the progress, some are concerned that Hurricane Laura may wipe away the progress.

Mayor Turner is asking that people in the Houston area get tested before the storm hits if possible.
