Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCA more than 16-mile police chase ended in a crash that killed an innocent driver, and the 17-year-old involved has been charged with murder.

The police chase started in Webster and ended in Pasadena Sunday morning.

Sunday evening Christopher Evan Romero was arrested and charged with murder, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony evading arrest with a motor vehicle and an outstanding felony warrant out of Dimmit County for unauthorized use of a vehicle. Romero’s bond was set at $300,000.

Authorities said they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle, but Romero refused to stop and then led them on the chase.

While approaching a red light at the intersection of the Beltway 8 feeder road and Spencer Highway, officers said they slowed down. But Romero sped up and caused a major 3-vehicle crash at the intersection.

The driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene. Four other people, including Romero, were injured in the accident.
