The Pasadena Economic Development Corp is planning to transform dark underpass areas into well-lit areas that they hope people will use as event spaces.
The Shaver-Munger-Main Underpass Project will add lighting to these areas that are dark even on sunny days.
The people behind the project hope that once it’s completed, people will use the spaces for events such as festivals, car shows and farmers’ markets.
This is part of the city’s efforts to reinvigorate the Shaw area on Pasadena’s north side.
Members of the EDC hope that the efforts lead to people rethinking spaces like this as being for people.
