An 18-year-0ld man has been arrested in connection with the alleged strangulation and sexual assault of 11-year-old Maria Gonzalez.
Juan Carlos Garcia-Rodriguez will be charged with capital murder. Gonzalez’ body was found underneath a bed on August 12 in an apartment.
Authorities say that Garcia-Rodriguez has been previously living in the same apartment complex as Gonzalez. He was arrested in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The Gonzalez family released a statement thanking police for making the arrest.
