Family members say that Gregory Kirk was lured to his son by his ex-wife, Samantha Washington, so that she could shoot and kill him.
Tuesday in Pasadena, Washington used their 3-year-old son to lure Kirk outside so that she could then shoot him.
Family members say that Kirk was a victim of domestic abuse and was trying to leave the relationship.
Washington is now facing charges for murder as well as for evading arrest.
Kirk’s family is hoping that they can get custody of the couple’s three children.
