The city of Houston is trying to close a club raided on Saturday night because it is believed the be the site of drug use and sexual assault.
The Harris County Precinct One Constables, Drug Enforcement Agency and Houston Police Department coordinated efforts with other organizations to raid “Kryptonite,” a popular Houston night club. During the raid, police found drugs both being used and in packages they believe are consistent with selling methods. Special DEA Agent Wendell Campbell told ABC 13 that the club culture is often a scene for drug use.
The Harris County Attorney’s Office is using the evidence of the raid as a means to shut down Kryptonite. Lead Assistant Attorney Fred Keys said Kryptonite must clean up its act or it will be closed.
However, MC Entertainment, owners of Kryptonite, argue that they try to run a safe and legal business, but can’t help who enters their club and with what.
