Justin Herron, 31, made his first court appearance after being arrested in New Mexico.
Herron is accused of killing his 18-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Patra Perkins, in a northwest Houston motel room.
Herron has been charged with capital murder. He confessed to the shooting and said he was jealous because Perkins was texting another man.
According to Perkins’ family members, Herron was her boyfriend and the father of her unborn child.
