Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCA federal grand jury in Houston has indicted DuPont as well as a former employee related to a fatal 2014 incident in La Porte.

U.S. Attorney Ryan Patrick said that they were indicted for knowingly violating requirements of federal safety regulations as well as negligently releasing a hazardous substance.

On November 15, 2014, 24,000 pounds of methyl mercaptan were released at DuPont’s La Porte plant. Methyl mercaptan is a highly toxic, flammable gas that’s used to make insecticides. Four employees were killed as a result of the incident, and several others were injured.

The indictment alleges that DuPont as well as Kenneth Sandel knowingly failed to implement safety procedures.
