Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCRoyal Dutch Shell Plc plans to begin restarting its gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracker (FCC) Monday night. The restart is scheduled to begin at its 318,000 barrel-per-day joint-venture refinery in Deer Park, Texas.

The FCC was shut down on January 11 to repair a leak that followed a malfunction in the unit’s expander.

FCCS use a fine powder catalyst to convert gas oil into unfinished gasoline.

The Deer Park refinery is a joint venture, split 50-50, between Shell and Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), which is Mexico’s national oil company.

A Shell spokesperson was not available for comment to discuss the Deer Park refinery’s operations.
