Neighborhood watch got a new definition Monday morning in the Channelview area. 
When the security alarms of their neighbors house went off at 2 a.m., one couple on Lakeside Drive grabbed their firearms and took the situation into their own hands. The couple was watching the home for their neighbors while they were out of town, according to the Harris County Sheriffs Department.
The couple, both of whom had their concealed carry license, entered the home and found a burglary suspect in the bathroom of the home, said Sgt. Ben Beall. After warning the suspect they had guns, they entered the room, where the suspect allegedly rushed them.
The couple opened fire and struck the male, who collapsed in the backyard, according to Sgt. Beall. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died around 4:30 a.m.
Other neighbors said the neighborhood was wary because of other recent break-ins in the area.
