A man found a body covered in trash in a vacant field. Houston police are searching for clues as to how the body ended up next to a liquor store on Scott Street near Mainer Street.

Police say that the man found the body while picking up trash on the property as he saw a leg sticking out from a pile of debris. They believe that the body was dumped in the lot several weeks ago based upon the state of decomposition of the body. Houston Police aren’t sure how the individual died or whether it’s a man or a woman.

The owner of the closed liquor store was trying to clean up the lot when he found the body. He said that he had closed down the liquor store due to too much crime and other issues in the area. This incident, he says, just reinforces that he made the right decision.

Neighbors can’t believe that a body sat in the lot for weeks without anyone noticing.
