A diesel truck sparked a large grass fire in La Porte, and the smoke could be seen for miles.
The fire spread just east of the Fred Hartman Bridge at Spillmans Island.
Two firefighting rigs were destroyed in the fire, which was put out later in the evening.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
