Shane Pellerin Law Firm, PCThe family of a Rodeo Houston volunteer announced on Monday that they have settled their lawsuit with the rodeo, and a golf cart maker, two years after the woman fell from the golf cart. That volunteer, Bonnie Herndon, is still in a coma.

“We want everyone to not forget Bonnie, never forget the wonderful person, the philanthropist and the leader in our community that she was,” Herndon family lawyer Bennie Agosto said.

In 2013, Herndon fell out of a golf cart when its driver made a sharp turn. She landed head-first on the pavement; the long-time volunteer has been in a coma since then. Attorney Brant Stogner said that the golf cart had been substantially modified.

The rode and the golf cart company settled with the family for an undisclosed amount of money, that will be used to pay for Herndon’s around-the-clock care.

“We’re hoping that this never happens again and the lessons learned in this case, difficult as they may be, will prevent any future injuries at the rodeo,” Agosto said.
