Last week a former neighbor confronted a Deer Park resident and then shot the victim five times before he fled in his truck.
Starsky Valdez was arrested during a traffic stop the following day, and he is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Valdez’s wife Chassidy insists that her husband opened fire at the former neighbor in self-defense. She claims the victim had been harassing her husband for months.
According to authorities the victim was shot in the abdomen and the leg and is in the hospital in serious condition. Authorities say that he’s been arrested several times in the past and that he may have ties to gangs.
His wife insisted that he fired shots only to protect himself and his family.
